What do students wear for driving
lessons? |
We suggest for
your own comfort during your driving lessons that you were both
comfortable flat shoes, clothes that are not restricting. Why?
Because we want you to have full concentration on your driving
lessons rather than how tight/uncomfortable your clothes are
or shoes slipping off the pedal! |
Do you recommend safety checks?
What are they? |
Because driving skills are with
you for life we like to go through and teach you some safety
checks to ensure yours and other road users safety so that
lives are not shortened while on the road (think of others
not just yourself)
First safety check is on you, are YOU fit to drive
1. are you well
2. are you tired
3. Eyes ok? Do you need glasses? Have you got them?
4. feeling upset, angry
Second safety check is on your car is your CAR fit to be driven?
1. Tyres - are they inflated correctly?
2. Brakes - can you stop?
3. Steering - does it feel strange?
4. Engine - red lights on the dash board alerting you to problems?
5. Lights - are they still in good working order?
6. Bodywork - nothing dangerously hanging off? |
What steps must I complete to get
my driving lessons? |
Once you have reached the
correct age you must pass your theory test, learn your practical
then pass your practical driving test to get your license |
Can you help me study and pass
my theory test? |
We teach and guide you through
the theory and hazard perception skills test next we test your
knowledge, we do have a supply of booklets and CD to help with
this process making it easier for you. |
Where do I take my Theory
Test? |
 |
Situated
all over the UK Theory test centers are operated by the
DSA, we will advise you of your nearest centre |
How frequently is it recommended
that I have driving lessons? |
This
is entirely up to you and your budget but a minimum of
2 hours per week is recommended - less frequent and you
may forget a few things. We suggest that you book ahead
so that time slots are available for you |
|
I'm anxious about beginning my
driving lessons what will I do? |
We are
conscious about how nervous first time drivers can feel so we
make every effort to alleviate your fears. We will guide and
teach you at your own pace and remain sensitive to your qualms
until you over come them. |
Is there a minimum amount of driving
lessons I have to take? |
No there
are no minimum lessons, but because everyone is unique we all
have different abilities to absorb and learn new skills therefore
it depends how quickly you can grasp driving techniques. We
will be assessing you and will advise you when you are ready
for your practical driving test. |
 |
Who can teach me how to
drive? |
A
full British driving licence holder (min 3 years) who
is over the age 21 can teach you how to drive - but -
the DSA strongly recommends that you are taught by an
approved Driving Instructor. |
Do you give discounts? |
Yes
we do! If you are a student you get student rates
or if you are not a student you have the option of booking
a block of 5 hours |
|
Refresher Courses for Qualified
Drivers, am I qualified enough? |
If you
have your licence then yes your qualified! We then assess your
skills and build upon them to make you a safer skilled driver
for life |
What happens on the practical
test? |
Your Practical
driving test will take up to 40 minutes to complete and is
conducted from your local driving test centre. Firstly you
will be given a simple sight test to make sure your eyesight
meets the requirements, then the examiner will assess your
driving safety skills and techniques that you have developed
in your lessons.
