I'm Nigel Hooson, a BSM trained Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) who previously worked as a franchised instructor for BSM but, due to recent changes within BSM, decided to become independent.

On the 23rd February 2007, I launched STREETWIZE School of Motoring with a high number of students.

My driving skills have been gained by driving articulated trucks, working as a long distance lorry driver for most of my working life. I have driven in Europe and North Africa, including cities like Athens in Greece, Casablanca in Morocco and Madrid in Spain.

When you learn to drive you need to be sure it's a life skill and not just a pass certificate you receive. I am teaching you my life skill to keep you safe on today's busy roads.

As a BSM instructor I received ongoing Continuous Professional Development training (CPD), which the Driving Standards Agency wants to become mandatory, ensuring that driving instructors stay up to date.

Because I am a member of the Driving Instructors Association, who also conduct training courses, I will be continuing with this training.

If ever you call the Driving School, the voice on the other end of the phone will be Karen. She started working for Streetwize a year ago and is now the manager; doing promotion work, writing course materials and making coffee! Karen learnt to drive with Streetwize so can always give you objective, firsthand experience of what it was like to learn with Nigel - any questions you may have, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Karen studied business at A-Level, going on to tutor it and has since completed further courses in small business management and marketing. In September she is hoping to start a degree in business and management and as part of their on-going training, both Karen and Nigel are currently working on the DIA Diploma in Driving Instruction.

I have successfully completed courses in training skills (from Hull University) and teaching adult learners, from East Riding College.
I have also passed my Diamond Advanced Driving Test and am now proudly the chairman of Scarborough Driving Inst. Association.
